The BHPA has been made aware of a recent incident in which a quickrelease carabiner opened during a tandem paragliding reverse launch.
Fortunately, the pilot was able to abort the take-off before an accident occurred.
As a result the FSC has issue a new Safety Advisory regarding the use of quick-release carabiners and the importance of routine inspection of connectors as part of standard safety practice. This is available on the Safety Advisories page of our website

The F*Race 2 is delivered with an adjustable ABS system made from a dyneema line.
For all F*Race 2 harnesses delivered until now, the dyneema ABS line is assembled with a lark's head knot around the red chest strap loop.
Ozone are concerned that there may be a possibility, although minimal, that it may slip out of the red loop thereby widening its opening and allowing the toggle to escape when the chest strap is not in tension.
They are therefore asking all F*Race 2 customers to check the position of this loop, and modify its connection as shown in the full safety notice available on our Manufacturers & Importers Safety Notices page,
The full safety notice is also available on the Ozone Website.
This new ABS connection is also implemented in all new F*Race 2 harnesses in production.

The CAA has launched a short-notice review of some Letters of Agreement between BHPA clubs and local ATC units. Parts of the review make sense, others may represent a risk to some sites.
The CAA has listed some clubs as being affected but their list may be incomplete. FSC are routing all correspondence on this through Tom Hardie. If your club has an LoA and isn't in contact with Tom, they should contact him ASAP here.

For reasons associated with GDPR compliance, the BHPA stopped updating its online membership card on August 1st 2025; the entire system will close very soon after that date.
This may inconvenience clubs and, particularly, competition organisers using digital cards to verify membership.
Exec. is actively seeking a remedy and hopes for normal service to be resumed soon.
Members should not be concerned about any loss of personal data; this is simply a precautionary step to ensure compliance with data protection law.

Icaro Paragliders have published a safety notice concerning tandem spreaders with a production date of June 2024 or later.
The edges of the metal fittings on the carbon rod have not been sufficiently deburred and are therefore too sharp. This can damage the webbing of the spreader and, in the worst case, cause it to tear.
It's therefore essential that pilots using Icaro tandem spreaders, with a production date of June 2024 or later, inspect them for any signs of damage before their next flight.
For full details please see the full Icaro Safety Notice available on the Importer & Manufacturer Safety Notices page on our website.
The Icaro Safety Notice is also available on the DHV website.

After one of the fastest-ever races, the final leg became a sprint between Durogati, Simon Oberrauner, Lars Meerstetter and Maurer. Durogati stole a march on the other three to finish only a few minutes ahead, Lars leading Simon with Chrigel edged off the podium into 4th place.
Earlier there had been some crazy flying in very windy conditions that some onlookers regarded as dangerous. Storm conditions in the Dolomites were very hairy indeed.
The race continues until Friday but exclusions will cut in again on Monday having already forced the retirement of some back markers. World Champion and Prologue winner Maxime Pinot retired early on.
