Summary

Pilot noticed that chest strap was undone on LHS of harness 3.5 hours into a closed circuit cross country flight. Upon noticing, pilot flew into calm air and was able to connect the harness strap. The glider had handled normally during the flight until that point. The pilot continued the flight and landed safely.

Summary
Pilot suffered a frontal collapse which then led to a cravat. This subsequently led to a spiral dive, pilot tried to regain control of the wing and remove the cravat but to no avail. Reserve deployed when it was clear that there was insufficient height to regain control but was to low to deploy fully. Pilot spiral into the tree canopy and then impacted the ground.
