Pilot flying coastal ridge misjudged wind strength and direction and was unable to fly back to his launch point. He attemptted to top land the cliff site but flew into turbulent air behind the ridge, causing his glider to drop.

The pilot followed ridge to a position in which the ridge and wind direction were almost parallel. As he was unable to penetrate back upwind the pilot attempted to land on a small grassy area, turbulence led to a frontal collapse pilot impacted rocks.

Summary
During landing the canopys wing tip fell onto a pilot. The pilot then noticed a line trapped in the Brummel hook on the speed system. The line had been damaged by the hook. The diameter of the gap in the hooks was smaller than line diameter.
