On September 20th Pennine club member Simon Blake landed a paraglider on the summit of High Tove, south-east of Keswick in the Lake District.
It was the 214th and final 'Wainwright Fell' he'd flown off, over or onto since January of this year. Simon managed this feat despite having a full-time job and living 50 miles from his nearest fell, and being out of action for six weeks in spring through injury.
Most of these conquests were achieved on a Gin Sprint Evo or a Bobcat mini-wing, however his last summits were bagged on an Ozone Delta 2 on demo from The Sick and the Wrong in Keswick. He bought the glider the next day!

The SHPF Ratho Repack will be held at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, Ratho, near Edinburgh on Saturday February 1st 2014.
The highly-successful format will include an opportunity for hang glider and paraglider pilots to deploy their emergency parachutes in a dynamic situation, followed by a careful repack. In past years some pilots have taken the opportunity to do this several times over.
There will also be a flying-related keynote speaker, and a social event in Edinburgh afterwards is being considered. The SHPF AGM will also take place on the day. More details will be available nearer the time; for costs, booking details, etc, please visit the SHPF website.

The Algodonales open distance record was set at 143km nine years ago by Baz Rhodes of local operator Andalucian-Experience.
In September the record was broken no less than three times, first by Jose Ignacio Robledo who flew 150 and 181km on the 4th and 5th, and again on the 11th by David Corpas Garcia. David landed at 200.7km after more than seven hours in the air, having nearly flown into Portugal!
Congratulations to all involved in these massive flights.
