Pilot encountered sever turbulence close to base causing glider to dive and spiral. Pilot tried to recover but lines became twisted. Pilot deployed parachute then struggled to get glider under control and prevent down plane. Finally controlled glider at 100m AGL.

Pilot noticed leg strap had come undone in flight. Inspection showed that the underside spring had jammed in the buckle mechanism giving the impression that it had connected properly. When pulled at an angle however, it released.

On final approach to landing field Pilot flew into strong thermal. Glider was lifted and tipped back. On recovery, glider dived forward and swung pilot and passenger into tree. They fell 6m from tree.

Immediately after launching the pilot discovered the cord from his vario was caught over the spreader bars forcing them together. Pilot was eventually able to release the cord with some difficulty and continued flight.
