Pilot encountered sever turbulence close to base causing glider to dive and spiral. Pilot tried to recover but lines became twisted. Pilot deployed parachute then struggled to get glider under control and prevent down plane. Finally controlled glider at 100m AGL.

Pilot noticed leg strap had come undone in flight. Inspection showed that the underside spring had jammed in the buckle mechanism giving the impression that it had connected properly. When pulled at an angle however, it released.
