Pilot noticed that the that the speed system pulleys on the risers appeared to be in different positions, one being lower than the other. On inspection, the pulley strap on the RH riser was found to have torn its stitching and was coming away from the riser.

During repack and annual inspection (with a licenced packer) it was noted that the rubber bands used last year had degraded, broken and stuck to some of the lines on the reserve canopy causing staining in some areas.
The licenced packer stated he had never seen this kind of deterioration before.
