Whilst ground handling a new canopy the pilot noticed that the Brummel hook connection to the speedbar had become detached. On one occasion the left control line became caught in the slot in the brummel hook.

Whilst soaring in windy conditions with the speed bar applied the canopy suffered a 80% deflation causing the glider to turn right. The situation deteriorated with the canopy cravtting and then entering a full stall. Pilot impacted heavily.
