Pilot attempting to launch in light wind conditions did not generate sufficient airspeed during take-off run. Witnesses said nose was too high. Glider stalled and fell over 40ft cliff edge into trees.

During hang check the noseman noticed that the pilots harness shoulder rope was frayed. It appeared that the rope had been overstitched causing the cord to melt.
