A UK wide network of BHPA recreational clubs look after flying sites in their area, and offer guidance and assistance to qualified pilots at a local level. Clubs also provide the supportive flying and social environment that is so important for newly qualified pilots when they leave the familiar school environment for the first time.

Most BHPA recreational clubs are also coaching clubs.

Coaching clubs are able to offer one to one or group coaching to assist pilots to develop their flying skills and progress safely through the BHPA Pilot Rating Scheme.

Recreational Clubs do not however provide training.

Training can only be undertaken at a BHPA Registered School. But your local recreational club can be a useful source of information about BHPA registered schools operating in your area.

If you're looking for someone to teach you to fly, or would like a trial (air experience) flight, please visit our Schools page to search for your nearest BHPA Registered School, or view a full list of all BHPA Registered Schools. You may also wish to visit our Learn to Fly page for a better understanding of what's involved.
