On final approach to landing field Pilot flew into strong thermal. Glider was lifted and tipped back. On recovery, glider dived forward and swung pilot and passenger into tree. They fell 6m from tree.

Immediately after launching the pilot discovered the cord from his vario was caught over the spreader bars forcing them together. Pilot was eventually able to release the cord with some difficulty and continued flight.

Pilot was being sucked into cloud so tried spiral dive but was not confident and so tried 'big ears'. glider stalled then entered rotation. Pilot deployed parachute and landed safely.
