Pilot launched into thermal lift. Almost immediately he turned back to take advantage of the lift. He misjudged his position within the thermal lift and flew into an area of sinking air above the hill causing him to lose 20ft and impact the hill.

The canopy inflated unevenly during launch. The student managed to correct this but the student was now 20 degrees off his intended heading. The canopy lines scraped some ski cables located to the left of launch. Student recovered normal flight .

Student failed to follow radio instructions and flew into an area of turbulence, canopy collapse (50%) piutched down and left into rocks.
