On repacking a chute that had been previously thrown, packer discovered either apex line stretched or main lines shrunk. Packing tab had been ripped off. Did not repack and reffered to manufacturer.

Pilot suffered asymmetric and the symmetric collapse due to high level (6000ft) turbulence. On violent recovery from symmetric collapse 4 upper A lines snapped. Pilot landed safely. Lines possibly weakened by previous incident.
