Pilot had midair collision with another paraglider and suffered an asymmetric collapse. Pilot had difficulty deploying emergency parachute and later found it had become entangled with the line holding his vario.

Pilot over braked glider when in accelerated air flow and glider collapsed. On reinflation the glider had a cravat which the pilot pumped out. The glider then stalled and the pilot crashed before he could deploy his parachute.

During a deployment and repack practise the pilot found that the emergency parachute would not deploy. It had been packed in the harness incorrectly. Parachute was then correctly fitted by a qualified packer and functioned correctly.
