While ground handling the student stepped back and inadvertently took off. On leaving the ground the student turned the wrong way causing the risers to twist. The glider turned and crashed just below take off.

On take off pilot accidentally, and without realising, applied full speed bar while getting feet into pod harness. Approx 30 seconds into the flight the glider suffered a symmetric collapse at low level. Pilot impacted heavily on his side.
